Effective Teaching Workshop: What is Community?

This workshop is an opportunity for new and returning faculty, including adjunct and dual credit, to come together for community building activities and timely, relevant professional development. New faculty will delve into CSI campus culture, collaboratively design an aligned learning unit, and explore classroom management strategies. New faculty will participate in community building activities and construct a learning unit using the Backward Design model.  Returning, adjunct, and dual credit faculty will explore active learning in various modalities and sign up for individual consultations with a member of the TLC team.

Purpose of the Course

This is the first activity in the New Faculty Onboarding process. New faculty will join the Instructional Deans to learn about the general expectations of CSI faculty and the overall CSI campus culture. New faculty will also participate in professional development relevant to beginning their first semester in any modality of CSI classroom: face-to-face, online, blended, or hybrid. Though this workshop will have separate learning tracks for new and returning faculty, one purposeful element is to promote a sense of community by bringing them together to develop professional campus relationships. Returning faculty will explore active learning in various modalities.
