Discover the art of beautiful lettering in this Introduction to Calligraphy and Illuminated Letters Workshop!  Students will start out with a felt tipped marker to learn the basic strokes in calligraphy.  We will work on lowercase, uppercase, and numbers. Students may choose to use some of the dip type pens to practice with.  The second half of this four-hour workshop will focus on learning to make large, decorative capital letters, known as “Illuminated letters” or ‘versals”.  A versal is a large capital letter used to start out a word, poem, verse, name, or song.  We will be decorating them in a variety of ways, using both watercolor and pen and ink.  We will make use of both positive and negative spaces to make our designs expressive, unique, and fun! Both beginners and more advanced artists will enjoy creating designs that are as simple or elaborate as you please.

All materials provided. No experience necessary — beginners welcome!
