An "active shooter class" is a training program designed to educate individuals on how to respond and potentially save lives during an active shooter situation, focusing on the "Avoid, Deny Defend" strategy by teaching them how to assess a threat quickly, identify potential escape routes, find safe hiding places, and if necessary, take defensive actions against an attacker as a last resort; it aims to empower individuals to make informed decisions in a critical emergency scenario.  Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, the role of professional guardians, civilian response options, medical issues, and drills.
