Beginning Pottery

CourseGraphic This course is for students who are eager to learn about the basics of pottery fundamentals. A typical class will begin with a project demonstration after which students will recreate a similar piece on their own. Areas of focus will include include coil, slab and throwing techniques. Other topics to be covered will encompass glazing techniques and handle making. Please note that coursework is subject to vary based on the overall direction of the class and skill level present.

NOTE: Production pottery will be prohibited and space in the damp room may be restricted if necessary.

IMPORTANT: Registered students will need to purchase bags of clay ($25/bag) from the CSI Bookstore in advance of the start of class, and must keep the receipt that they will then bring to the instructor the first day of class to receive their clay. Students can expect to use 1 bag of clay throughout the course - however, no refunds will be given for purchased but unused clay, so it is recommended for individuals to only purchase one bag of clay initially.
