Wood Block Printing

Learn the patient and meticulous craft of woodblock printing in this immersive, hands-on class. Students will explore one of the oldest images-making traditions in the world while carving their own relief block and transforming it into a printed work on paper. Together, we’ll study historical and contemporary examples, practice safe and effective carving techniques, and experiment with inking methods that bring texture and color to life. Along the way, you’ll discover how to layer multiple hues, plan a successful design, and develop a personal approach to the medium. Previous experience with linoleum printing can be helpful, but complete beginners are warmly welcomed.
