Art 101

ART 101 is designed to build essential foundational skills. We begin with basic drawing techniques, focusing on observation and hand-eye coordination through contour and gesture drawing. Next is a value study, where students learn to create depth using light and shadow. Color theory follows, introducing color mixing, relationships, and the emotional impact of color. In composition, students explore how to organize visual elements effectively. Finally, we apply these skills in a collage in mixed media project, watercolor project, and a final project that is chosen mixed media on a prompt.
